I took this back in May, when Sophie and I were trying to get into a Bernie Sanders rally in Oakland. Sophie had decided to do a bit of photo journalism with her brand new instax mini– the gum was of course to aid her concentration, she was after all trying to document events of great significance. We ended up having to call it a day though, the queue to get in was astronomically long. Is this a metaphor for political apathy? I think not. Just look at Sophie, she's full of life.
