Can you describe the moment you wanted to capture?
It was mainly about seeing something that stood out to me, something that I wanted to capture. A moment I’d like to look back at. So, taking the second to lift the camera and snap is really worth it. The moments in the photos just looked like they needed a photo taken of them.
The photos were taken over a range of time, but really it was a spontaneous decision to go and take photos. My friend would say “Let’s go take some photos”, we’d get in a car, and get lost in wandering around and trying to capture what felt right.
Where were you when you realised you wanted to make this piece of art?
I’ve always enjoyed photography, buying my first camera in June 2015. Although I only really got into it May of this year. Since then, I’ve enjoyed the feeling of being outside and being free to capture everything I can. We did go with a vague idea of what we wanted, for example at night it was long exposure and with mist it was ‘eerie’ photos. However with the actual pieces, it was a moment before. The urge just sort of took me. I think a degree of spontaneity is massive in photography, or to me at least.
Were you listening to music when you created this piece?
Nope, just watching what was going on and usually talking to friends or asking them to go stand somewhere.
Where do you dream of living?
I’d have to say Argentina or Spain. Although I need to learn Spanish first.
What have you learnt since creating this piece?
A lot more about photography, and a lot more about what type of photos people enjoy. I’ve also learnt what I’ve enjoyed taking photos of more (urban stuff).
What does red remind you of?
As unfitting as this answer may be for a magazine devoted to art, I’d have to say Manchester United, the team I support. Coming from a family big into football, it has played and will play a huge part in my life.
