Can you describe the moment you wanted to capture?

I wanted to capture the powerful colours and energy of the festival.

Can you describe the moment you captured the photo?

I went for a walk in the town and stumbled upon the festival. I found a good sheltered place to photograph anyone passing by and before I knew it I had this photo.

Where were you when you realised you wanted to make this piece of art?

It was an impulsive decision – I’m always on the look out for anything interesting worth capturing and in that precise moment, that was what caught my eye.

Were you listening to music when you created this piece?

No

What have you learnt since creating this piece?

Photography is about catching that ‘decisive moment’. Had I taken the photograph 1 second before or afterwards, the children would not have been looking at each other.

Where do you dream of living?

In as many places as possible. For example: a Bauhaus-inspired loft in Berlin; a ranch overlooking the Andes in Chile; a period apartment with big windows in Madrid; a cramped flat in Hong Kong; a modern chalet in the Canadian Rockies (like the one from Gone Girl); a high-rise apartment in Manhattan. The possibilities are endless!

What does red remind you of?

Anger and passion. It reminds me of the blood of the bull when watching bullfights in my hometown in Spain.
